Hamilton CC Cyclocross

Cyclocross has started in Ontario, last week actually. On Sunday the HCC Valley Park Cross was held in Hamilton, the 2nd race of the Southern Ontario Series.


This was my first cyclocross this year, I was eager to race but rusty.

It was a close race throughout, with Mark Batty of Team Race Pro putting the hurt on Eric Box (Devinci) and me.

The three of us stayed within 30 seconds. Batty was not coming back fast enough which left Eric and I to sprint it out. The barriers were so close to the finish line it was more of a foot race than a bike race. I lead out, but Eric was quicker over the barriers and took second place by half a wheel, leaving me in 3rd. Next week the 'cross race is in Guelph, but first, Saturday is Tour de University Heights in Toronto. This will be a good crit at Jane and Finch.
